I'm not a huge fan of most metro parks because there is generally just too many paved paths & open picnic areas for me. Not saying that's bad - because anywhere in the city or suburbs that isn't a strip mall I'm a fan of - but I prefer areas of green where I can't hear the freeway or see people every other minute. I'm looking for a little peace & quiet in the forest or meadow or caves or...you get the idea.
Ok - enough of that.
As I said, Blendon surprised me. Yes, it had some paved paths, and yes a lot of picnic areas. But it also had some great walking paths that were actually dirt (sometimes gravel) and went deeper in to the forest. And considering that on one side of the park is a freeway and I couldn't hear it when I was walking...this was pretty great.
All in all a really nice place where one can get a nature fix in the suburbs :)
Love this shot...gives me the "I'm about to embark on an adventure" feeling every time I look at it
I love trees - especially ones with personality. A Shagbark Hickory, like the one above, definitely has it!
Not a fan of actually eating mushrooms per say....but they are really cool when you encounter them in the forest!
Hello little orange mushroom!
One last 'shroom shot.
